Microsoft Solitaire errors: startup, freezing, sign-in and sync
Match the symptom to the point where it occurs: app startup, Xbox/Microsoft sign-in, a Daily Challenge download, an advertisement or a particular card move. The phrase “Solitaire error” is not enough to identify the component that failed.
The Collection will not open on Windows
Use repair-before-reset guidance. Confirm that you are opening Microsoft Solitaire Collection rather than another similarly named app. Preserve local data and account details before any reset or reinstall. Microsoft’s current app-repair instructions vary by Windows version and by app.
An error code or .NET message appears
Copy the full code, surrounding message and app name. Use the official Microsoft Casual Games help center to look up a product-specific code. If the message explicitly names .NET, DirectX, Visual C++ or a DLL, use Windows game-component guidance. A normal loading screen does not prove a .NET Framework fault.
Cannot sign in or stay connected
Check the current publisher service information before changing the app. Record whether the account prompt rejects credentials, loops or succeeds before a later game error. Enter authentication details directly into the genuine Microsoft process, never an independent support form.
Progress is missing or Daily Challenges do not sync
Use the missing-progress guide before clearing data. If the specific problem is downloading a challenge, start with Daily Challenge loading checks. Missing access to an older challenge is different from failing to download a currently available one.
Crashing after an update or freezing during an ad
Record the update timing, device and whether the problem starts before, during or after an advertisement. Use the freezing-ad reporting checklist. Do not click through a suspicious advertisement or buy Premium as a diagnostic test.
Mahjong, Minesweeper and other Casual Games
The same official help center lists Microsoft Mahjong and Minesweeper, but their game rules and error messages differ. Include the exact product when reporting a fault. Do not apply a Solitaire scoring explanation or a card-move fix to a different game.
Does every Solitaire crash need a .NET repair?
No. Identify the actual message and component first. Startup, account, service and advertisement failures can require different investigations.
Can independent support restore cloud progress or purchases?
No. Microsoft and the relevant store handle account records, ownership, purchases and service decisions.
