When fraudsters pose as software providers, claiming to offer support services on behalf of major technology companies like Microsoft and Apple, to gain access to your personal information.

Fraudsters have been known to set up fake websites, offer free security scans, and even send alarming messages to try to convince you that your computer is infected. Often, they gain the trust of consumers by misrepresenting their relationship with reputable companies, and prey on consumers’ fear of their computer becoming infected with viruses and malware.
