Wi-Fi is everywhere. And it’s mostly free, which is great! But it can also be a problem if you’re sat in a coffee shop, doing some important work or banking.

Surely the Wi-Fi is secure, and no-one can just pluck your sensitive data out of the air when your sending important work files to your boss? Well, hackers can.

Not because your device or router isn’t secure, but because the files are sent over in ‘Plain Text’. This means the files are very easy to read and copy. Hackers can ‘catch’ and keep the files, and then expose your sensitive data for their own gain.

However, there are ways to protect yourself from hotspot to hotspot. Watch the above video to see how.

Finally, a huge thanks to the Met Police and Get Safe Online for creating this series of videos.
